Clear Harbour Alliance

Process and Timeframes

1. Planning (mid - late 2007)

We will visit every property in the project area for a visual inspection. We will send out a letter so that you know when we will be working in your area. We will also knock on your door before inspecting your property. Some of you may have already spoken with one of our representatives.

After the first visit, we may need to return to undertake further investigations. This may involve a variety of methods, like using a small closed circuit television (CCTV) camera or dye in the pipes.

2. Preparation (late 2007 - mid 2008)

If our investigations conclude that we do need to undertake works on a particular property (as will be the case for the majority of properties within the combined drainage area), we will contact the property owner with a copy of the proposed drainage plan. All owners of that property need to sign the drainage plan and send one copy back to us (keeping a copy for their own records).

For further information about consenting, refer to Fact Sheet 1 about consents (located under the tab “downloads” on the left).

Once we have received the signed drainage plan, we will arrange the appropriate resource, tree and building consents that may be required from Auckland City Council and get ready to undertake the works.

3. Construction (early 2008 - mid 2010)

During the construction phase we will let both owners and occupiers know when to expect us in the street or area, what will happen and how.

A reminder notice will be sent to both property owners and occupiers a few days prior to starting construction. This may be some time after the plan is signed as the construction programme runs from 2008 to 2010. Owners and occupiers can update us at that time if there is anything we need to know before we start e.g. If you will be away and the gate will be locked.

During works on a property (typically five to seven days), we will let the owner or the occupier of the property know of any changes that may occur e.g. we may need to take a few extra days because of unforeseen ground conditions or events.

Once we have completed work on a property and reinstated it to at least its pre-work standard, we will let both the owner and the occupier know that we have finished with a card or letter. Owners will then be asked to sign a restoration certificate which confirms that the property has been reinstated to at least the same standard as before the work.

For more information about construction, including effects on properties, please refer to Fact Sheet 1 about consents (located under the tab “downloads” on the left).
